Approximately every 3 minutes, someone is diagnosed with a form of blood cancer. For the millions of families all over the U.S. struggling with this diagnosis, it can be hard to find answers – and even harder to find hope.

Each year, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) holds a Man & Woman of the Year campaign in communities across the country honoring motivated and dedicated individuals who support the advancement of cancer research and hope for a cure. The Georgia chapter of the LLS recently nominated 23 candidates from around Atlanta for a 10-week long philanthropic fundraising competition.

We’re proud to announce that Alvonice Spencer, Pursuant Health Quality Director, is one of the candidates for this year’s Man & Woman of the Year campaign. Through community outreach and patient advocacy, Spencer has continued to support the efforts of the LLS as they work to improve the lives of cancer patients and their families. Pursuant Health is honored to stand with both Alvonice and the LLS as they fight for a cure.

Alvonice shared the following with our team and we are happy to share it with you as well. “The Atlanta 2018 class of candidates have a goal to raise $1.5M and I have a very aggressive personal fundraising target! Yes, I am more than a little overwhelmed by that goal, but I’ve seen how scary cancer diagnoses can be and know the tremendous difference organizations like LLS make in the lives of patients and families. With your support of a tax-deductible contribution, LLS can continue funding critical research in the fight against blood cancers. To make a secure online contribution, please visit:

The winner of each award will be presented with the title of Man or Woman of the Year at the Grand Finale Gala June 9th at the InterContinental Hotel in Buckhead, with a chance for one All-Star Candidate to be recognized nationally.
